My favorite holes : the 9 th (Par 3), the 14 th (Par 4) and the 4 th (Par 5). The Par 4 18 th is a great hole also.
Pinehurst National is a very tough course and it is always well maintained. I think it is one of the 5 hardest courses in area. It is difficult to score on the Par 5’s, and 3 of the Par 3’s are very difficult holes. The course is well thought out, so it challenges you think your way around the course. It is a private course, but guest play is available and can be arranged through our office.
The Club features all the amenities of a private country club – tennis courts, swimming pool and a large clubhouse. The clubhouse has a large banquet area, a restaurant and a private members lounge – all in addition to the members’ locker rooms. The Pro Shop is well above average. The staff at the club is very good. One of the unique things about Pinehurst National is that it is a true equity club. The “initiation fee” for resident members is currently $27,500. When you sell your house, you get back the prevailing initiation fee on the date of your sale. The initiation fee has done nothing but go up, so quite often a member will sell a home and actually get more back that he or she paid in. The program is a little different for non-resident members.
Homes, Lots and Condos are available in Pinehurst National, including golf front property, waterfront property and interior. House prices start in the high $400,000’s and top out over $ 1 Million. There are still a few lots available right around $100,000, and golf front lots are available for under $200,000.

Pinehurst National is a great residential club with a wonderful golf course for serious golfers. Pricewise, it is the most affordable of clubs that have “power courses”. Plus, it is in an ideal location – about as central as you can get and still have the privacy of a gated community.

Home prices range from the $300k’s to over $1 Million, but the average home price is typically around $400k for an interior home and a little over $500k for golf front. There are a few condos in the neighborhood priced under $300k, and there’s occasionally a home sale over $1 Million. But again, most homes at National are somewhere in the middle. Building lots start under $100k for interior locations. The best golf front lots are over $200k. Search for all real estate in the community by using the links at the bottom of this page.
Club Membership –Pinehurst Country Club membership available. Membership setup changed a bit when Pinehurst CC acquired the golf course, but we can easily assist you in making sure that a Pinehurst Country Club Membership comes with your purchase
The golf course is Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. Jack actually visited and actively worked on back in the 1980’s. He also consulted on the course improvements made in 2012. It’s as challenging as any course in the area if you play it from the tips. For a more detailed course description, visit our Pinehurst Area Golf Course Review Page, where you can get the impressions of a PGA member who is accustomed to shooting in the 70’s, a good golfer who shoots in the 80’s and sometimes in the 70’s . . . . and a guy who routinely shoots in the 90’s!!
Property taxes at National, like all taxes in the county, are relatively low compared to other parts of the country. By way of example, we looked and a house that sold in 2014 for $450,000 had annual taxes of about $3,400, while a house that sold for $800,000 had an annual tax bill of $7,200. There are formulas for calculating the annual taxes, but those formulas apply to the assessed values of homes, which in turn can vary based on factors like age and property condition.
