The Cottages on May

The Cottages on May is the newest neighborhood in Southern Pines.  It’s on the North side of town just steps from Horse Country.  New homes are being started and completed as we write this.   The community is designed to be like downtown – think really small lots, sidewalks and a lot of front porches and curb appeal.

What are the homes like?

The homes are awesome looking – think craftsman style with fantastic front porches loaded with curb appeal.  The houses range from about 1,300 sq. ft. to about 2,000 sq. ft.; and feature either 3 or 4 bedrooms.  The cost of these homes per square foot is pretty stout – but you’re getting really well designed, space efficient houses that look fantastic.  They are close together, but that’s on purpose – the intent to mimic the original downtown area (just a few blocks away).

Why The Cottages on May?

You’re right IN downtown So Pines – or right at the very edge.  It’s the hottest spot in the area.  If you are in this neighborhood, you can stroll into town in less than 10 minutes depending on the exact location of your house.  You’ll find coffee shops, locally owned shops, the historic Sunrise Theater, brewpubs, cool restaurants – and the list goes on and on.  So Pines is also home to numerous festivals and concerts throughout the year and a great farmers market in the warmer months.  There’s a lot more – but you get the picture!

The Cottages on May might be your neighborhood if:

  • You want to be in a newer neighborhood with a brand new house.
  • You like the idea of living in Southern Pines, but close to Pinehurst.
  • $300,000 is in your budget and you don’t mind paying a lot per square foot as long as you get great design and quality
  • You don’t mind living in pretty close quarters with your neighbors
